Brian Clegg Support Kariandusi Schools Trust
Monday 31, October 2011
At a recent charity event for the Kariandusi Schools Trust, Managing Director of Brian Clegg, Calvin Lord purchased a watercolour painting which will help fund young African children through secondary school education.
The Trust, officially set up in 2002, aims to build and fund school facilities and educational materials in poor parts of Kenya, and through their Langalanga scholarship scheme also helps finance scholarships for bright yet underprivileged students, so they can have a secondary education.
Calvin is pictured with Harry Vialou Clark, who along with his wife Alison, is a trustee of the charity.

The event, organised by TTS Group, one of Brian Clegg’s customers was held at The Belfry Hotel, Nottingham. The picture bought by Calvin, was painted by David Thuku, an alumni from the project, who has since graduated from the Buruburu Institute of Fine Art in Nairobi and won an award for the most outstanding student of his year.
As a child, David’s parents could not afford the cost of sending him to school (£5 per term). As a result his primary school funding was arranged by Harry and Alison and he then became a Langalanga funded student in secondary school. Returning the generosity he received, David (pictured below) now supports the Langalanga scholarship fund by selling his work, and has participated in exhibitions at the Kenya Cultural Centre in Nairobi, as well as the U.N. Headquarters in Gigiri.
