Brian Clegg's CleanART Paints

All Brian Clegg's CleanART branded acrylic paints are specifically designed to be more user friendly for the student or hobbyist and to provide additional creative elements to the more advanced artist.  They are specially formulated to:

  • Be cleaned from non-porous surfaces such as work tops, floors and art equipment.
  • Work like an acrylic, but, also enable the artist to use watercolour techniques like scrubbing back into dried paint layers.

CleanART Acrylic Paint Properties:-

  1. Cleanable; with warm soapy water and a little 'elbow grease', dried deposits can be removed for non-porous surfaces like work tops, floors, sinks, mixing trays and even brushes.
  2. Additional Creative Properties;  Water colour techniques with an Acrylic paint? – With CleanART it's possible to removed paint layers days after drying by simply rubbing into the dried paint with a clean damp/wet brush to remove colour.  Click on this link this in action.
  3. Water resistance; to prevent the rewetting of dried layers of paint when applying paint wet paint over dried paint. A typical technique used in acrylic painting. Click here to see this in action.

CleanART Acrylic Paint Range:-

Brian Clegg currently offer two acrylic paints within the CleanART™ range:

Protection from the elements:-

It's not recommended to use CleanART paints for artwork displayed externally or in high humidity environments without being protected with a suitable water resistant varnish.  Brian Clegg offers a protective overvarnish that offers both UV and water protection.  We recommend any over-varnish is tested over the acrylic paint prior to varnishing the finished work.  Applying overvanishes using a spray method can give better results than brush application.

NOTE: Although dried deposits of this paint can be removed from non-porous surfaces, it can still stain surfaces and will stain fabrics or clothing.  Always use protective clothing and cover surfaces.  As these paints are re-wettable, CleanART paints are not recommended for artwork displayed externally or in high humidity environments without being protected with a suitable water resistant varnish.
