Product Details

Brian Clegg ChromART Paint is a water-based, tranclucent, blend resistant acrylic paint which when applied in thicker layers dries to give a flexible finish that is very glossy when applied in a thick coat.

Characterised by high pigmentation and it’s trancelucent nature; ChromART is specially formulated to resist blending with other colours and dry water resistant.  This coupled with it’s translucent nature makes it perfect for producing great effects on glass or acetate; ideal for symmetry, abstract and squishing designs enabling experimentation with collage and frottage effects.

ChromART Paint has many other uses in application;

  • Use neat to produce squishing designs on transparent surfaces as described above.
  • ChromART is water resistant when dry so when let down with a little water it can be used as a transparent paint for overlaying effects just like a drawing ink.
  • Apply thick layers to achieve glossy finishes with a look similar to ‘cold enameling’, perfect for experimenting such as making costume jewelry.

Special Information

Can be diluted easily with water to use for water colour or poster colour techniques.

To improve the  adhesion/key of acrylic paint on very smooth / glossy surfaces roughen up the
surface with a fine sandpaper or other fine abrasive material.

To obtain enhanced weather resistance can be coated with Brian Clegg’s water resistant and UV protective clear water based over varnish.  Ensure acrylic paint is completely dry before applying over varnish.  To obtain obtain optimum key between the paint and over varnish very lightly sand the paint surface with extra fine sand paper prior to over varnishing.  Repeat to increase protection.

Storage Information
  • Store in a cool place out of direct sunlight.
  • Always replace the cap when not in use.
Washing Information
  • Paints do stain
  • Always wear protective clothing

 

Wet Stains: Place a pad on the back of the fabric and rub with a cloth dampened with water.  Wash with soap and cold water.  Repeat wash with soap and warm water.

 

Dry Stains: Very difficult to remove.  Pick off as much as possible.  Soak in warm water and detergent and follow  wet stain recommendations.  Pad back of stain to help avoid spreading of stain.  Dry Cleaning may help.
