Surface Decoration & Jewellery
Process
-
Create a simple random pattern by squeezing the paint directly from the bottle onto half a side of a sheet of paper - use single colours, or a couple of different colours only
-
Fold the paper in half onto its self, causing the paint to print, smear or sguidge
-
Repeat this process several times using different papers and a variety of colour combinations
-
Experiment in the same way by applying the paint to a sheet of ace- tate, plastic or thick glass, then pressing the papers onto the painted surface, again allowing the paint beneath to print, smear or squidge
- Allow all prints to dry thoroughly
For Surface Decoration:
- Use these sheets of patterned paper to cover a discarded box or small bottle or aluminum drinks can
-
Allow to dry over night
-
Work onto the “decoupaged” surface using the paint very thickly and heavily straight from the bottle, or applied with a syringe, the reverse end of an old paint brush or a stick
-
Drop colours into each other to build up your design
- Whilst the colours are still wet drag them across each other using a fine pointed tool - e.g. cocktail stick, old knitting needle or a small piece of wood
For Jewellery Design:
-
Practice making small random patterns onto different coloured and textured papers
-

Identify your favourite designs, cut them out and glue them to a thick piece of cardboard cut to the desired shape of your jewellery i.e ear rings, broaches, pendants or hair decorations
-
Alternatively, you can paint the designs directly onto pre-cut jewellery shapes made from foam board, cardboard or small pieces of wood
-
Attach earring hooks, clasps, pins or pendant loops as desired
